What exactly do you mean by an online course? I already own your books/DVDs, get your newsletter, and read your blogs. How is taking this course different?

This course is on a completely different level from anything else I offer. In fact, being familiar with my books and DVDs will only add to your experience. Even though you'll see some similar dishes, Ready for Raw goes far beyond just giving you recipes.

In Ready for Raw, I guide you step by step through every aspect of raw food preparation and lifestyle—walking you through what to have for all your meals and snacks, handling holidays and travel, detoxing, setting up your kitchen, menu planning, and much more. Click here to see the syllabus of what we’ll cover in each session.

Ready for Raw is the next best thing to taking a live workshop with me—it’s like participating in 15 live classes/workshops and getting four months’ worth of training.  You won’t find anything else like it on the Web or in print.

Cookbooks and DVDs can give you a taste of the raw food lifestyle, but this course provides the full meal!

What’s the format of the course? Videos? Audio? Articles to read?

This course offers a mix of engaging text, videos, photos, assignments, and printable recipes and handouts. I designed all these elements to work together to make getting on the road to healthy high-raw living a fun process.

These days, some people expect online learning to be completely video based. And there are about 50 videos in the course (roughly 3-4 per session). But if you think about it, just watching hours of someone talking into a camera would get pretty boring, wouldn’t it? I’d be being lazy if I just threw some videos on the Web and called it a course! So, instead, I’ve integrated a number of different media to provide the best learning experience possible.

All the elements come together in an online "classroom" that I designed to be inviting and user friendly. (So you don’t need to be a “techie!) Through a discussion area, you’ll have ongoing access to me, and I'll be there to support you and answer your questions as you progress on your journey!

The course is self-paced, so once you register, you have lifetime access to all 15 Sessions. I recommend taking 1 session per week (which would end up taking you 15 weeks, or 4 months), but you can go more slowly if you like.

How long does each session take?

I estimate that each of the course’s 15 sessions would take most people about 2 hours to go through—which includes reading the engaging text and watching the videos. There are optional assignments on top of that, plus you may choose to participate in the private Facebook group with other students. So a session could take a range of time, depending on how many activities you do. I recommend going at a pace of approximately one session per week in order to best absorb and apply what you learn.

Can I go back and review sessions after I finish them?

Yes. You can take the course sessions at your own pace, starting them whenever you want to, and going back to review them at any time.

Do I have to take all 15 sessions in order or can I pick and choose and skip around?

I recommend taking the sessions in order because each one builds on the knowledge you learned in the previous one. However, you can skip around or pick and choose if you like. And of course, you can always go back and review any session later.

How do I access the sessions? Do you email them to me? Are they downloadable documents?

Everything is provided in the online course "classroom," an inviting, user-friendly place that you'll be able to get into at any time once you enroll.

What do you cover in each session?

We cover a wide variety of topics including what to eat to make every meal healthy and delicious, how to stay raw in the face of challenging life situations, how to set up your kitchen to be raw ready, eating raw on a budget or on the go, and so much more! Please see the syllabus for more specifics about each session.

Can I see a sample of a session?

Yes. To see a short excerpt from a session, click here. Remember, this is just a brief clip of one session. To see the rest of it, along with the other 14, action-packed sessions, sign up here.

When can I ask Jennifer questions during the course?

You can ask me—and your fellow students—questions at any time in the private Facebook group. I will read your question and respond promptly and personally.

Are there specific times when I can start the course?

There is no "start" date—since you go at your own pace, you can start any time!

I want to sign up now, but I might not be able to start the course for a couple months. And then I might have to take another break for vacation a month after that. Is that okay?

Yes, you can sign up and then start later. You can also take breaks from the course whenever you want and then return to it. You’ll have lifetime access to the course after you sign up, and you can go through the course on whatever schedule and at whatever pace works best for you.

Are there certain times I have to be in the online classroom? Does it matter if I’m in a time zone that’s different from yours or other students’?

There’s no specific time that you have to be in the classroom—you can enter the classroom whenever works best for you and go through the sessions at your own pace. You can also post questions for me and for fellow students in the private Facebook group at any time. So your time zone really doesn’t matter.

What supplies and equipment do I need to take the course? How much will that cost?

You can do 90% of this course with just a blender, food processor, knife, and cutting board. (You don’t need a dehydrator!) At the end of each session, I’ll give you a list of suggested equipment and ingredients to practice the recipes. I’ll also list other optional tools—how many of them you decide to invest in will be totally up to you.

If you're concerned about your budget, you can take the course without buying much new equipment at all. Or, if you'd like to make the investment, I'll guide you in exactly what equipment to buy to get the biggest bang for your buck.

Is the course really worth $197 when books are cheaper and there’s so much free stuff on the Web?

This course goes way beyond cookbooks, DVDs, and all the free articles on the Web. This is a comprehensive training that will leave you with a thorough understanding of how to eat and stay on a healthy, high-raw diet. You’ll get to meet other raw food enthusiasts in online discussions, and you’ll be able to ask me questions any time you like.

Books, DVDs, and articles can give you information. But taking this course means embarking on an exciting, interactive raw food journey with fellow travelers. It represents a commitment to yourself and a promise from me to be there, cheering you on and guiding you every step of the way.

Attempting to improve how we eat and live is often very challenging, and when we try to do it on our own, we typically wind up falling back into our old ways. But making profound changes along with others who are doing the same thing and with the guidance of a teacher helping you to succeed is much easier—and a lot more fun!

Taking Ready for Raw is like being in a four-month, in-person training, but it’s far less expensive and you can do it from your own home.  You won’t find a value like this anywhere else, and it’s a great investment that will pay off for years to come.

Will I have to do any work for this class?

This class is for fun and personal enrichment, and I won’t be forcing you to do assignments or grading you. We’re adults.
I will say that you do need to read a little bit, because you can’t actively learn just by watching videos or getting some recipes. (That’s sort of like trying to build up your muscles by having someone else move them for you.) But don’t worry, the reading part is really fun, and it’s integrated with the videos.

And though you don’t have to complete the weekly assignments or participate in the discussion area, you’ll probably enjoy yourself if you do, and the more you put into this class, the more you’ll learn!

Will I be able to print anything from the course?

All the recipes in the course, as well as certain handouts and checklists, are formatted as what I call “takeaways” that you can print, keep, and refer to forevermore.

What if I don’t want to go completely raw—will this course still make sense for me?

Absolutely! As I often say (and will discuss in the course), I don’t eat 100% raw. In this class, you’ll learn how to incorporate raw foods into a diet and lifestyle that works for you. We’ll also cover some healthy cooked foods such as cooked beans and other veggies as well as gluten-free grains. This is information I haven’t covered in my all-raw books and DVDs.

When I’m trying to learn something, I need support and guidance.  What kind of support will I get in this course?

Anytime you have a question, you can simply send me a message in the private Facebook group, and I’ll get back to you just as fast as I can.  My goal is to make the course as fun and worry-free for you as possible.  I’ve designed all the content to be so clear that little-by-little, step-by-step, it will help you move into living a healthy, high raw lifestyle without struggle. Whenever anything feels challenging to you, I want to hear from you so I can quickly give you the support you need.

I’m interested in pursuing a career as a raw food chef. Is this a certification course?

This course is for personal enrichment and is not a professional or career training chef certification course (which is one reason it’s affordable and self-paced!). My primary interest is in helping ordinary people to eat and feel better.  So what we’ll cover is practical stuff for improving your life through the food you make every day and not about being a gourmet chef in a restaurant.  However, upon your completion of the course, I do issue you a certificate of completion, which you can print and display proudly!

I’d like to pay by credit card, not with a paypal account. Is that okay?

Yes! When you hit “click here to pay,” you will be taken to paypal’s payment page. But there is an option there to pay by credit card. Whether or not you have a paypal account, you can always select that option.
